Wadi Rum - Jordan

Wadi Rum. Another world UNESCO site in Jordan. Armed with our guide Allak and his run down, smashed up pick up truck, we spent 2 days here and slept overnight in tents, Bedouin style. 20 years ago Jane & I overnight camped in the Sahara desert in Morocco.  It was a very cool experience and I was excited for the boys to have the same sort of adventure. The mountains in Wadi Rum are sandstone which makes them easy to carve, so we saw lots of petroglyphs.  And of course spent lots of time rolling, running and playing in the sane.  At night the stars appeared and for me, rivalled only the Sahara, Algonquin and Temagami for brilliance. The boys had never seen so many. They would have spent a week here exploring, throwing and smashing rocks.
